2. What We Collect

• Account data: Name, email address, and phone number.
• Listing data: Photos, descriptions, prices, and location details of items you list.
• Payment data: Processed securely by Stripe. DealShop does not store full credit card details.
• ID verification data: Processed securely by Stripe Identity to verify users.
• Usage data: IP addresses, browser types, and session analytics.

3. Legal Basis (GDPR Article 6)

We process your data under the following legal bases:

• Contract performance: To provide our escrow services and allow you to list items.
• Legitimate interests: For fraud prevention, security, and platform improvement.
• Consent: For marketing emails and non-essential analytics cookies.

4. Who We Share With

To provide our services, we share data with trusted third parties:

• Stripe: For payment processing and ID verification.
• Supabase: For secure database hosting (EU servers).
• Vercel: For platform hosting (EU servers).
• An Post / DPD: Your address is shared only when generating delivery labels.

5. Data Retention

We retain account data for 3 years after your last activity. Transaction data is retained for 7 years to comply with Irish tax laws.

6. Your Rights

Under the GDPR (Articles 15-22), you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
• Rectification: Correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure: The right to be forgotten (subject to legal retention requirements).
• Portability: Download your data in a structured format.
• Object: Opt-out of marketing communications.

How to exercise your rights

Signed-in users can export or delete their account from Dashboard → Settings (Privacy & your data). You may also email our privacy contact below. We aim to respond to legitimate requests within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies for login and security, and optional analytics cookies (for example Vercel Analytics) only if you Accept All on our cookie banner. Reject Non-Essential keeps analytics off. See our Cookie Policy for full details and to reset your preference.

9. Account deletion and anonymization

When you delete your account and you have no transaction history, we erase the account. If transaction history exists, we anonymize your profile (removing personal identifiers) and retain financial records as required for Irish tax and legal compliance. Active escrow or disputed transactions must be resolved before deletion can proceed.

10. Legal notice

This policy describes current product behaviour. For formal Data Protection Commission–facing counsel or before scaling marketing activity, obtain review from an Irish solicitor. It is not a substitute for legal advice.
